Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University was established in 1992 as a state university with four proposed faculties: the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and Humanities, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Technical Education and the Faculty of Fisheries. Mugla School of Management, founded in 1975, originally affiliated with the Ankara Academy of Economics and Administrative Sciences, was the first higher education institution in Muğla. It then became the first faculty of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University upon its establishment. In addition, Muğla Vocational School, founded in 1989 as part of Izmir Dokuz Eylül University, joined Muğla University. Over the past 20 years, the university has grown to include nine faculties, three graduate schools, four schools, nine vocational schools, and thirteen research and application centres. Since its establishment, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University has been in pursuit of quality higher education and research in order to contribute to the sociocultural, scientific, and technological development of Turkey. Today, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University encompasses a two million square metre campus surrounded by a spectacular mountain view and smaller university sites and schools across the province. Currently, the university services over 40,000 students and employs over 1, 400 full time academic staff.
Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Public Administration Department was established in 1993, after a two-year preparation period, it began its active education and training by accepting students in 1995-1996 education-training year. Later, the Second Education programme was opened in 2001-2002 education-training year and at the same term students were accepted to that programme. The Department of Public Administration aims to provide knowledge required by contemporary politics and administration science to undergraduate and graduate students who will need the provided education after graduating to work in their own areas. On the other hand, the department aims to bring the modern education and study culture, contribution to the production of knowledge, participatory, collaborativeness to students. In this context, it is primarily aimed to make our students respectful individuals to national and universal values and preferred persons with their education, training and research quality at regional and country level, with the principle of teamwork, oriented to solve country’s and region’s problems.

Muğla is very rich city regarding agricultural and animal husbandry economy due to its favorable climatic conditions. The region is famous for the production of honey, olive, citrus, almond, various herbs, and greenhouse vegetables besides its livestock. In the sense that MSKÜ is one of the most important partners of Mugla city in terms of academic and daily life, it also carries out various studies in the field of agriculture with its different units such as agriculture faculty, food and beverage management, Food Analysis Application and Research Center etc. Besides, MSKÜ has many academic units in the field of marketing which produce the information that agriculture sector may need under some titles like; market survey, product management, pricing, supply and distribution chain management and promotion. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tugba Ucma Uysal attended Mugla University where she received a bachelor degree in Business Administration. Then she attended Mugla University and obtained her master degree in Business Administration. She attended Dokuz Eylul University and obtained PH.D. in Accounting and Finance in 2010. Then she has been associated professor in September 2013 in Mugla Sitki Kocman University. Since September 2013, She has been associate professor at Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Mugla Sitki Kocman University. At the same time, she is the director of Mugla University Research and Project Coordination Center. She has international and national journal articles, book and book chapters about Accounting. Her research interests cover a range of topics in accounting theory, auditing, accounting ethics, fraudulent auditing. She has experiences in the management and implementation of different national and international projects.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Ceray Aldemir‘sbackground education is Public Administration and Management with Local Governments and New Social Movements specialization (PhD accomplished in University of Manchester- Manchester Business School,). She has extensive knowledge and experience on local governmental organizations and the application of the new public management in which marketing ethos highly visible. She studied and worked in Manchester Business School as teaching assistant between 2008 and 2014. Currently she is working at Mugla Sitki Kocman University Public Administration department as an assistant professor.
Tugba and Ceray are working together for Mugla Chambers of Trade and Industry which has 7.000 members – 2.000 of them in hospitality industry. The main duty of the staff in Chamber is coordinating vocational education trainings and self improvement of these members by designing meetings, workshops, seminars etc. In 2017, under the corrdination of Tugba and Ceray The Chamber organised a workshop for human resoruce managers of hospitality industry. The most important output of the workshop is the necessity a sustainable tourism policy and innovative approach in this sector. Mainly this output is the identifying and starting point of this project.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Naci Karabulut is obtained his Bachelor’s (2003), Master (2005) and PhD (2013) degrees in Department of Business Administration in the Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. He became an assistant professor in November 2014 at Mugla Sitki Kocman University, Fethiye Faculty of Management. He has published several international and national journal articles and book chapters in the field of marketing. His research interests cover a range of topics in consumer behavior, online shopping, purchasing under risky conditions, and consumers’ loss aversion. He had experiences in several international projects as researcher in the field of Business Administration.
Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Gavcar graduated from Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), Faculty of Forestry, Department of Forest Industrial Engineering in 1986 and KTU, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Business Administration in 1988. Than he had his PhD degree from İstanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Numerical Methods in 1992. He became a research assistant in 1988 and an assistant professor in 1992 at KTU. In 1997, he was appointed as associate professor at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Business Administration Department. He has got a professor title in 2002 and he was appointed to the Dean of Fethiye Business Administration on 26 August 2012. He has published in several national and international journals.
